CRV Ambreed appoints artificial insemination expert to Tasman, Marlborough area role

Dairy farmer, breeder and artificial insemination expert Nigel Patterson has been appointed field consultant for the CRV Ambreed team, in which he will be managing the Nelson, Marlborough, Murchison area.

CRV Ambreed’s South Island sales and services manager Mark Duffy said the company was delighted to have someone with such a strong background in dairy join the team.

“Nigel has over 26 years’ experience in the dairy industry, including running his own pedigree Jersey herd, share milking, providing testing services and supporting farmers through artificial insemination (AI),” said Mr Duffy.

“The region’s dairy farmers will quickly find that his knowledge of dairy cattle genetics will add huge value to their breeding programmes so that they can achieve the types and production traits they are looking to have in their herds in years to come.”

Patterson has a longstanding relationship with CRV, having previously bred bulls that have featured in CRV’s catalogues. He is also an experienced AI technician, and part of his role will include training and certifying AI technicians, and monitoring and supervising the AI programme across the South Island.

“Nigel brings a unique set of skills to the job and will offer a completely new approach to looking at our clients’ farming businesses, particularly in the Tasman and Marlborough region,” said Mr Duffy.

“Because he’s bred his own bulls for CRV, he has an enormous amount of knowledge to share with our customers, and I think they are going to really appreciate and respect the support and advice that he will be able to give them.”

Patterson said he took on the CRV Ambreed field consultant role because he is passionate about herd management and breeding, and wanted to share his experience with other farmers who are focused on achieving the best results for their herd.

“My background in herd management, AI and training has provided a great foundation for my new role at CRV Ambreed,” said Mr Patterson.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out there and meeting other dairy farmers so that I can learn more about their farming operations and help them grow their businesses through their breeding programmes.”

Patterson joins CRV Ambreed regional manager Helen Lash, and field consultants Rose O’Connor-Neilsen, Lisa Olier and Amanda Skeggs in the Upper South Island area.
