UK companies have much to offer
The UK’s Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Livingston, will be in New Zealand next week to spotlight the
benefits of doing business with UK companies.
“British companies have exceptional experience in collaborating with international partners on major infrastructure
projects. They have a long and proud track record of finding new and innovative ways to produce results,” he said.
“There is a considerable amount of infrastructure work already under way or planned in New Zealand, especially in
Auckland and Christchurch.
“Some British companies are already operating successfully in New Zealand and want to expand their business. Others are
keen to enter the market. All have a considerable amount of experience to offer.”
Lord Livingston will be in Auckland Monday for talks involving infrastructure companies and stakeholders for rail, road,
airports and bus.
He will also visit the new Team McMillan MINI showrooms in Newmarket, the biggest MINI dealership in the Asia Pacific
region and the second biggest in the world.
He will visit Christchurch on Tuesday for the formal blessing of the land where Vodafone plans to erect a new $50
million South Island headquarters and innovation hub.
The blessing will involve members of Ngai Tahu, Christchurch Central MP and Associate Minister for Canterbury Earthquake
Recovery Nicky Wagner, the British High Commissioner to New Zealand Vicki Treadell, and senior Vodafone management.
Lord Livingston will also hold talks with UK companies who are already in partnership with New Zealand companies in
Christchurch and who wish to expand their operations. He will also meet with New Zealand companies who are operating in
Britain.
Bilateral talks involving Lord Livingston and Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce are scheduled for Tuesday.
Lord Livingston will meet the New Zealand Trade Minister Tim Groser in Sydney later next week.
