OfficeMax chips in more than $500k to benefit NZ schools

OfficeMax’s commitment to education is continuing to go from strength to strength with an incredible $500,000 contributed to New Zealand schools in the past year alone through its MySchool programme.

Since its inception in 2007, $1.9 million has been given back to participating schools across New Zealand, with the flexible programme allowing schools to use their allotted rewards as they see fit.

The MySchool programme, which now runs all year round, is just one way that OfficeMax contributes back to local schools and communities. Its A Day Made Better programme recognises New Zealand’s exceptional primary and intermediate school teachers, while its Max e Grants campaign provides funds for disadvantaged children. Most recently OfficeMax has announced an ongoing sponsorship with youth helpline 0800 What’s Up.

Christchurch Girls’ High School Executive Officer, Chris Miller, said the rewards they had received from MySchool over the past couple of years had helped the school purchase furniture for the library computer suite, AV equipment, storage systems and other items of furniture for around the school.

“We have encouraged parents and staff to order their stationery through OfficeMax since 2007. Office and teaching staff find the process of buying quick and easy and are able to dedicate more time to their academic priorities,” Mrs Miller said.

Participating schools this year have used rewards to stock their Resource Rooms, buy text books and unify compulsory stationery across multiple year levels.

A number of schools have seen an increase in parents paying their school fees on time as OfficeMax offers the option to pay for your fees and stationery together.

OfficeMax General Manager (Education), Dr Suzanne Flannagan, said that quality stationery and supplies are essential in schools and in a child’s education.

“Parents have the opportunity to not only make sure their children are equipped for school but can also help to ensure much needed funds are directed back to their school of choice,” Dr Flannagan said.

“Hearing how MySchool rewards have been able to assist schools in buying products and implement projects is truly wonderful. OfficeMax is delighted to have made such a meaningful contribution.”

Raising money for your local school is easy and can be done with purchases made online, in store or via freephone. Simply go to myschool.co.nz or alternatively let your in-store or phone representative know which school you’d like to support at the time of purchase.
