Big win at excellence awards for committee
Standards New Zealand is delighted that one of its committees won a top award at the recent Institute of Public Works
Engineering Australasia’s (IPWEA NZ) excellence awards, Acting Chief Executive Michelle Wessing said today.
‘Our committee, P3910, which undertook a comprehensive two-year review of NZS 3910 Conditions of contract for building
and civil engineering construction, won the IPWEA Projects of investigation, reporting systems, or processes award.
‘Last year, P3910 won our Meritorious Service Award for Committee of the Year and we are very pleased to see them
receive more recognition for the immense effort they put into the review of NZS 3910 which resulted in a suite of three
standards, NZS 3910, 3916, and 3917.
‘Due to the hard work of the committee and important feedback from the sector, including input through the public
consultation process, a robust suite of standards were developed. These standards enable developers, engineers,
contractors, architects, designers, and others in the building sector to quickly establish contractual arrangements that
deliver a wide variety of building and civil engineering projects.’
Michelle Wessing thanked committee member Andrew Brickell, MWH New Zealand’s Chief Engineer for Construction Contracts,
who prepared the award entry on behalf of the 18 professional organisations that participated in the review of NZS 3910.
The IPWEA awards recognise engineering excellence in infrastructure projects completed in New Zealand in the last two
years.
