JUCY leader awarded coveted Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award

Tim Alpe, JUCY’s Chief JUCYFIER (aka CEO), has been named amongst an elite list of six Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award recipients. The awards celebrate exceptional emerging leaders and were presented last Friday night (27 June) at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae.

Awards also went to Kathryn Wilson, leading footwear designer; TV fishing personality and conservationist Matt Watson, Sarah Robb-O’Hagan, New York-based President of global fitness chain Equinox; Sam Hazledine, doctor and founder of MedRecruit and Therese Walsh, Head of New Zealand for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Sir Peter Jackson received the Blake Medal.

Tim Alpe was recognised as a dynamic New Zealand business leader, renowned for his ability to engage and motivate teams to achieve outstanding results.

“It’s a real honour for me to be named amongst such a diverse, creative and talented group of Kiwi leaders,” says Tim.

“I am extremely passionate and energised about JUCY, and excited about where our company is heading internationally. The JUCY crew has been paramount to the success of JUCY so this award goes to the whole team.”

Tim is the Chief JUCYFIER (aka CEO) and co-founder of JUCY, a global tourism company operating over 2,700 car and campervan rentals in NZ, Australia and USA, JUCY Cruise Milford Sound, JUCY budget accommodation, the JUCY by Design manufacturing division and New Zealand’s only car share business, CityHop. The JUCY Group has more than 240 staff across New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the UK and US and 300,000 customers annually. Tim shares the helm with his brother and co-founder, Dan Alpe, who heads up the Operations side of the business.

“Dan and I believe passionately in JUCY’s four key values fun, family, pride and passion. We are hands-on leaders working hard to head a strategic company with a strong internal culture that attracts good people,” says Tim.

Tim has continued to impress with his strategic nous throughout his career and was the 2010 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner. He is also a current board member of NZX listed Snakk Media and previous advisory board member of Telecom subsidiary Skinny Mobile assisting with the set-up phase.

Tim also invests his time into building future New Zealand business leaders, through his involvement with the Young Enterprise Trust. He speaks frequently at events and mentors Young Enterprise teams, as well as being a member of the Young Enterprise Trust Supporter’s Council.

The Sir Peter Blake Trust has been celebrating great kiwi leadership through the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards since 2005. 50 Blake Leaders have joined a growing group of individuals who follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter and continue to exemplify his extraordinary kiwi 'can do' spirit. These awards mark the 10th anniversary of the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards.
