Palmers marketing excellence recognised in scoop of NGIA awards
Palmers Franchise Systems’ excellence in the marketing of their iconic garden stores and their products has been
recognised in the annual Nursery and Garden Industry Association Awards.
In the fiercely-contested marketing section of the NGIA awards, Palmers was totally dominant, scooping the coveted Dave
Goudie Cup for overall Excellence in Marketing (for the first time) and the D J Liddle Cup for Best Marketing Campaign
Retail. Palmers also won awards for the Best Packaging or Plant Label, the Best Broadcast Advertisement and the Best
Marketing Campaign.
Palmers marketing manager Janalle McMeekin says the awards are a great reward for the hard work of her relatively small
team.
“To win all these awards, and especially the Dave Goudie Cup, is a fantastic coup for Palmers. We have a much smaller
marketing budget than many of the other entrants and that means we have to work a lot harder and a lot smarter to get
our message across.
“It is really great that our small team’s hard work has been recognised in this way.”
Palmers’ Tauranga store also enjoyed success at the awards, winning the Store of the Year Award (for the second year in
a row), the prestigious Excellence in Plant Range and Quality award and the award for Excellence in Financial Results.
Franchisee Peter Wayman and his team do an amazing job in Tauranga,” says Janalle McMeekin. “Their merchandising is
absolutely world class and they definitely deserve the recognition for their pursuit of excellence in a very competitive
market”.
Palmers’ is New Zealand’s leading garden centre chain with 17 popular stores throughout the North Island.
