Willis Bond & Co today announced the sale of Grant Thornton House at 215 Lambton Quay in Wellington to an undisclosed party for $63 million.
The refurbishment of Grant Thornton House has made maximum use of this central CBD landmark building and created a new destination on Wellington’s Golden Mile with 1900 square metres of retail space and 9900 square metres of office premises.
Willis Bond & Co Managing Director, Mark McGuinness said: “The building has been vastly improved by the refurbishment and reconfiguration that has opened up the building’s street frontages to Lambton Quay, and Featherston, Hunter and Grey Streets, making a new premium location for fashion and other high-end retailers, including: ANZ; Nespresso, in their new flagship Wellington store; Body Shop; Walker & Hall; and fashion designer, Robyn Mathieson.
The fully leased 15 floor office tower was also fully upgraded to create contemporary office spaces with views across the city and harbour. The building, formerly ANZ’s head office, was built in 1984 to exacting standards and is estimated to be at 100% of the New Building Standard. New tenants in the office tower include Grant Thornton, the Environmental Protection Authority, Optimation, and Farmers’ Mutual Group (FMG).
The sale of Grant Thornton House settled on Friday 20 June and was brokered by Bill Leckie from Colliers International.
