Award for Store in National Retail Chain Awards
Hornby Mitre 10 MEGA has scooped the Mitre 10 MEGA Store of the Year Award at the national retailer’s annual awards
dinner held on 12 June in Los Angeles.
The locally owned and operated family business was chosen after a panel of judges assessed it on customer and supplier
feedback, store presentation, staff performance and financial performance.
“We’re so excited, and incredibly proud with this recognition, said Andrew Smith, Director of Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby.
“The team works very hard, so it is really great to formally recognise them for all they do. We are so lucky to have
such a brilliant and talented team here at Hornby MEGA. It is because of everyone’s effort that we have achieved such a
great result. We’ll have to think of a good way to celebrate!”
Mitre 10 CEO Neil Cowie said Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby beat off stiff competition to claim the Mitre 10 MEGA Store of the
Year title with Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga and Christchurch neighbours Mitre 10 MEGA Ferrymead the two other finalists in
the category.
“The judges had a tough task selecting a winner. Our stores seek to be the best they very can be and are continually
looking for ways to improve so the standard was exceptionally high.
“Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby stood out though because of their attention to detail, and real commitment to customer service.
They consistently aim to give customers the best possible in store experience and always do everything possible to meet
their customer’s needs.”
The Mitre 10 New Zealand Awards acknowledge the efforts of team members across the country and seek to reflect the
company’s continuing focus on customer experience.
Mitre 10 is a co-operative organisation with 81 locally owned and operated stores nationwide that employ close to 4000
team members combined. They are the country’s largest home improvement and garden retailer and one of the fastest
