New Corporate Travel Business Set Create 20 Jobs in Tauranga
A growing demand for business travel in the Bay of Plenty has led to the opening of a new executive travel management company in Tauranga.
Orbit Corporate Travel, part of the House of Travel Group, which opens its doors this week has plans to take on eight staff in the first 12 months of operation and at least another 12 staff within the next 2-4 years.
The Managing Director of Orbit Tauranga, Paul Forward, says the city's export and manufacturing led economic growth makes it the ideal location for the nationwide chain’s eighth branch to be established.
“Tauranga business executives are travelling domestically and offshore more frequently as they develop new export markets. With this growth comes the need for better management of their travel planning requirements.
“As the region's international trading partners become more diversified, executives are required to travel further afield to develop new markets - this leads to demand for greater traveller safety and security during their travels,” he says.
Forward says the new Tauranga based service will offer businesses and their travellers the latest in travel technology and on-the-ground crisis support.
“In addition to a range of specialised cost management technology, our service will offer a local emergency response team that is there to assist our clients when they require it. In times of disasters or simply to make changes to their reservations outside of normal business hours, we have trained staff who are equipped to deal with any issues which could potentially arise,” he says.
Forward says increasingly businesses are turning to services such as Orbit to improve their bottom line when it comes to corporate travel.
"We can ensure a company reduces its total cost of travel by improving its purchasing patterns. Orbit provides an end-to-end service offering, including market leading technology, consolidated & electronic billing options, supported by experienced travel professionals based in Tauranga.
In 2013 Orbit was awarded Best Travel Management Company at the AFTA National Travel Industry Awards.
