HRH The Prince of Wales To Ignite Clothing
New Zealand Fire Service proving wool doesn't burn at 2012 Shear Brilliance Event in Auckland
Tomorrow, in the UK, at Clarence House, HRH The Prince of Wales is fronting a demonstration of the fire retardant
qualities of wool. He will be setting garments made of wool, synthetic and cotton on fire and comparing their
performance under fire. This event will be much like New Zealand did in the photo above at The Cloud Shear Brilliance
event when we hosted HRH The Prince of Wales for the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.
Craig Smith, Campaign for Wool New Zealand Trust board member and our representative at this event, made possible thanks
to H.Dawson, will front the media with AWI’s Peter Ackryod and BWMB’s Ian Hartley.
Thirty leading media will attend this event, including prominent names such as BBC London, The New York Times and South
China Morning Post. As well as general media, science journalists will also be there to report on the science behind the
natural retardant claim.
Without HRH at the helm wool would not draw such high profile media interest. We thank the funders of the Campaign for
Wool in New Zealand for your contributions as this is something that you have made possible for us to be a part of.
