NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 8 June 2014
ELECTRICITY
There were five car v. pole incidents during the week. An incident in Weymouth required a Vector pole to be replaced
before power could be fully restored to the area. An incident in East Tamaki caused damage to a council streetlight pole
only. Our contractors made the site safe and the job was referred to the council for further urgent work.
House/building fires were reported in Glendowie, Howick, Mangere, Epsom, Cockle Bay, St Johns, Surfdale, Mt Eden and
Fairview Heights during the week. Our control room isolated power to these sites for safety. In Cockle Bay, contractors
advised that a meter board was on fire. In Fairview Heights, a smoking pillar was referred to maintenance for further
work. A pillar fire in Mangere required an emergency shutdown of power so repairs could be made.
GAS
Emergency services informed us of a smell of gas at a customer’s property in Glenfield during the week. The supply was
isolated, but the cause was found to be an internal issue on the property. Vector was not required to attend.
Pipe strikes occurred in Howick, Mt Eden, Epsom and Whangapararoa during the week.
