Christchurch Airport celebrates Jetstar’s fifth birthday
Orange balloon towers are in place in the Jetstar area of Christchurch Airport this week as part of a week-long
celebration of the airline’s fifth birthday.
The airline has been operating domestic services into and out of Christchurch since June 2009 and now carries more than
827,000 passengers up and down the country each year.
Airport General Manager of Aeronautical Business Development, Matthew Findlay, says Jetstar is a crucial airline
partner.
“Jetstar accounts for a third of the capacity between Christchurch and Auckland and a quarter of the capacity between
Christchurch and Wellington,” says Mr Findlay.
“Since the time the airline started domestic services, it has steadily grown load factors to a high level, which shows
its service is gaining traction and becoming a popular choice for travellers.
“Clearly one of the factors travellers appreciate is Jetstar’s on-time performance, which the airline quite rightly
prides itself on.”
Mr Findlay says the birthday is a cause for celebration for all domestic passengers.
“We congratulate Jetstar on its fifth birthday and look forward to celebrating many more,” he says.
Jetstar offers 12 daily flights between Christchurch and Auckland and four daily flights between Christchurch and
Wellington.
