New Zealand Housing and Construction Quarterly released
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment today released the third edition of the New Zealand Housing and Construction Quarterly. The report analyses key housing market, construction and social housing data.
Some key points for this quarter are:
• Auckland and Greater Christchurch housing markets are becoming increasingly separated from the rest of New Zealand.
• Wellington has seen an upward trend in building activity since mid-2013 with alterations and additions the most common building consent granted.
• Canterbury continues to have the highest rents in the country, with nearly 15% annual growth.

Accompanying the release of the New Zealand Housing and Construction Quarterly are a new set of online rental data tables. These can be downloaded at http://dbh.govt.nz/nz-housing-and-construction-quarterly-open-data.
Future editions of the New Zealand Housing and Construction Quarterly will be released in September and December this year.
