Heritage Christchurch Introduces the Tranquil Bed Experience
Heritage Christchurch is the latest hotel in the Heritage Hotel group to introduce the ‘tranquil bed’ sleep experience
for guests to enjoy a restorative 40 winks. Every suite in the recently reopened hotel has a new tranquil bed promising
superb spinal support from New Zealand’s top bedding manufacturer, Sleepy Head.
The innovative new bedding system includes the provision of a new bed and base, with a plush mattress with extra thick
layers of natural fibre and a comforting pillow topper. The advanced technology of the bed’s BioXCell spring system
offers outstanding spinal support considered to be at the forefront of pocket spring technology.

The tranquil bed is part of the ongoing development of the sleep experience at Heritage Hotels. The optimum guest sleep
environment was carefully researched in association with Dr Simon Kelly, an Auckland chiropractor, to find the best
bedding for the Heritage Hotel guest.
Dr Kelly’s insights into how much the quality of sleep affects energy, immunity, memory and judgement made a meaningful
impact on the Heritage Hotel Management team. For the first time, sleeping on the job was encouraged as each individual
Heritage Hotel Management team member was tasked with trialling the short listed beds. Results of the bed trial survey
were then analysed and the tranquil bed selected.
Heritage Hotels introduced the tranquil beds at Heritage Auckland and Heritage Queenstown last year and CityLife
Auckland and CityLife Wellington will be completed next month.
The luxurious Heritage Christchurch offers accommodation in one and two bedroom self–contained beautifully appointed
suites, conference facilities for small events and meetings, a breakfast restaurant, fully equipped health club and lap
pool on site.
The Heritage Christchurch’s multi-award winning Old Government Building is registered as category one on the Historic
