Awards Finalists Demonstrate the Potential of NZ’s Build Environment
Finalists in the 2014 Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards demonstrate the country’s built environment can look forward to a promising future, as the era of economic recovery begins.
Principal Judge John Dunn says the finalists have all shown an increasing awareness of seismic issues.
“Every finalist project has displayed initiatives being undertaken to achieve the required levels of compliance while recognising the aesthetic and financial requirements of a successful development.”
Developments such as Tauranga Central Police Station and SPCA Wellington are just some of the selected finalists, which demonstrate the diverse nature of the entrants.
Property Council chief executive Connal Townsend says this year’s competitors have demonstrate a rare flare and edginess that has not been not seen in the previous years.
“We have been impressed by the quality of projects that have been submitted. The bar has been lifted yet again.
“It has been an undoubtedly difficult task for our judges to select the winning properties because the standard is so consistently high.”
There is also a healthy mix of participants from the regions with six property entries from Christchurch alone, despite the city’s crippling hardships. Other regions such as Wellington, Dunedin, Hamilton, Kawakawa, Masterton, Bay of Plenty, Tauranga and Cambridge have all put contender projects forward.
A total of 64 properties are have been evaluated and are finalists in this year’s awards. The awards are an annual celebration of excellence in property development judged on economic and financial factors, project vision and innovation (including degree of difficulty), design and construction, owner and user satisfaction, and sustainability and efficiency of operation.
The winning properties will be announced at a sold-out black tie awards evening in front of more than 1100 guests, which will be held at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland on Friday 6 June.
