NetHui 2014 registrations open
New Zealand’s favourite Internet event has now opened its doors for registration. NetHui 2014 will be held at Sky City
in Auckland from July 9-11 and as with previous NetHui, it’s expected that tickets will sell out fast.
The annual event, hosted by InternetNZ, brings together New Zealand’s Internet community to plan and execute the three
day event. There will be prominent New Zealand speakers, community-led sessions on all kinds of Internet Issues,
political discussions and a range of side events.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter said that planning for this year’s event has been an exciting process.
“We’ve got a really switched on, engaged community and ideas have been pouring in. Already we’ve got Deputy Prime
Minister Bill English opening the event, the ICT Minister, Amy Adams will be there, and Privacy Commissioner, John
Edwards will make the national keynote.
“That’s on top of a diverse range of discussion sessions, which make up the heart of NetHui, as well as side events,
workshops and plenary panels. This year attendees will also have the opportunity to buy a 3D printed model of
themselves!”
NetHui is supported by a number of sponsors and community sponsors, ranging from Google to Facebook to the 2020
Communications Trust and more. The event couldn’t go ahead without them and Ellen says that it’s working alongside
people that makes NetHui great.
“NetHui isn’t a conference where people sit around and listen to speakers and experts. It’s more a collaborative coming
together of anyone and everyone interested in the Internet; how it works, how it could work and what we can do because
it works."
