Mexicali Fresh Arrives in Auckland’s CBD
The freshest, best and most exciting California-style Mexican food will be available in Auckland CBD when Mexicali Fresh’s latest store opens on the corner of Victoria and Hobson Street this Thursday.
To celebrate, Mexicali Fresh Victoria Street are giving customers the task of pricing their burritos from 11am to 4pm. With a minimum of a gold coin donation, all proceeds of the burrito sales will go to support young lifeguards, Sam Jenkins from Piha and Katherine Reardon from Muriwai, to help in their quest to visit Huntington Beach in California as part of the California Lifeguard Exchange programme.
“We’re stoked to bring the most delicious California-style Mexican food to Auckland city-dwellers” says Mexicali Fresh Co-owner Conor Kerlin. “My brother and I grew up in California so to be able to link in and support the much-needed work lifeguards do here and in USA is fantastic.”
Everything at Mexicali is freshly chopped, grilled or roasted daily using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The fresh ingredients combined with an impressive array of drinks offers an experience like no other.
“The Victoria Street branch is the seventh addition to the Mexicali family and we’re really proud of the rapid expansion of our family owned company since we began franchising ten months ago,” adds Kerlin.
The California Lifeguard Exchange programme is a reciprocal arrangement that gives exceptional lifeguards from the northern region of New Zealand and across California the opportunity to exchange skills and experiences. Kiwi lifeguards Sam and Katherine are due to travel to Huntington Beach in late June for a month long adventure.
Mexicali Fresh Victoria Street Opening Hours:

The family opened the first Mexicali Fresh store at Princes Wharf in Auckland a month after arriving and have been chipping away at popularising Mexican food in New Zealand ever since. The second Mexicali Fresh store launched on Nuffield Street in Newmarket in 2006 and the third at Botany Town Centre in 2010, today there are eight stores and counting.
