Total Seclusion Brings Stardom for Luxury Lodge

A New Zealand luxury lodge has been nominated for one of the world’s most prestigious travel awards.
Bay Of Many Coves in the Marlborough Sounds is in the line-up for one of the Global Travel Experience Awards, jointly
organised by Zanadu, China’s leading luxury and boutique travel company and 21 Century, the most influential business
media group in China.
Bay Of Many Coves has been nominated in the category of Best For Privacy which Wellington Co-Owner, Murray McCaw,
interprets as providing one of the most secluded experiences for travellers anywhere in the world.
Zanadu explains that 140 hotels have been short-listed from thousands of hotels and resorts around the globe and will
compete across 28 different categories. It says celebrities, opinion leaders, media and finalists will attend the award
ceremony at the Shanghai Jing’an Shangri-la Hotel on June 5.
The exposure will give the nominated hotel an unmatched market exposure in relevant channels throughout China, Zanadu’s
Hotel Relations Director, Aymeric Naudin, says.
Murray McCaw, who will attend the ceremony, says China’s upper-end market is looking for something new and different.
“A lodge, surrounded by bush, overlooking unpolluted water, where there are no roads in and out and access is by yacht
or pleasure craft, is something quite unique to them,” he says. “In such a populated country, seclusion, where no-one
knows they are there, is a sought after commodity.
“Recent tourists to our lodge were captivated by the blue sky in the day and the stars at night, something they don’t
see back in their own country.”
Murray McCaw is delighted Bay Of Many Coves has been invited as a finalist and says the nomination is “a vindication of
where we are and our position in the world.”
“To be recognised by the organisers and sponsors is pretty prestigious,” he comments.
Murray says the nomination will have a great impact on Bay Of Many Coves in the Chinese market.
