NZ Green Building Council’s Sustainable Housing Summit
New Zealand Green Building Council’s Sustainable Housing Summit
WHAT:
Housing affordability
in New Zealand is a hot political and social topic. Home
ownership is falling as rapidly rising house prices in the
main centres puts home ownership beyond the reach of many.
The poor quality of housing stock also has major
implications on the health and wellbeing of occupants.
Unaffordable housing is both socially and environmentally
unsustainable and this summit considers how the issues of
affordability can be addressed without compromising on
housing quality and sustainability.
Quality, cost, affordability cannot be measured in the short term, but with reference to the long term impact of the built environment. Defining housing requirements for our cities needs to be part of a wider sustainable agenda that considers long term benefits (financial and societal) to families and individuals in terms of improved health and economic benefits of creating vibrant spaces for people to live and work.
How can the construction industry deliver healthy, efficient, attainable and sustainable homes for New Zealanders?
The Sustainable Housing Summit will try and find some of the answers to these questions as well as showcase leading thinking on sustainability in the residential built environment. The Sustainable Housing Summit is an opportunity to participate, debate and network with like-minded peers around the critical challenges and opportunities facing housing in New Zealand.
With international keynote speakers, case studies, panel discussions and more, this event aims to deliver information and inspiration to help you deliver healthy, efficient, affordable and sustainable homes for New Zealanders.
