Hat trick again for Clearview Estate at hospo awards
A hat trick. Again. Clearview Estate Winery and Restaurant once again showed that consistent top quality food and service makes this Hawke’s Bay icon a star performer at the Hawke’s Bay Food Hospitality Awards.
Clearview Estate took out each of the three categories it was nominated in at last night’s gala affair. It was the third year in a row, that the winery and restaurant business located at Te Awanga had been nominated in the same three categories, all of which it has won once if not twice before.
Adding to the accolades this year are awards for Outstanding Winery Experience, Outstanding Winery Restaurant and Outstanding Supplier / Sales Rep for Lisa Clarke, a second-time winner in her four years with Clearview.
Food Hawke’s Bay organisers acknowledged that Clearview Estate was respected for being able to maintain its quality standards since pioneering food and wine in the vines in the region in 1991. It is one of only a few restaurants with such longevity in Hawke’s Bay.
Now in its seventh year, the Hospo Awards has seen Clearview take out wins in best restaurant, best winery experience, best sales rep, and industry personality categories in six of those years and with nominations in all seven.
“What an absolute thrill to be recognised by our peers yet again against some very strong competition,” says Helma van den Berg, who along with Tim Turvey, founded and still owns and operates the business.
Delighted to share the celebrations with more than a dozen of their staff, Helma commented, “Our aim has always been to provide a unique dining experience that matches our wonderful wines and location, and that we’ve been around for over 23 years in itself says that we’ve stayed relevant and got the formula right.”
The awards are hosted by Food Hawke’s Bay, which is a membership organisation for food businesses in the region, and voted on by industry workers, owners, chefs, waiters, bartenders, baristas, suppliers and sales reps to select the most outstanding from those nominated in 15 award categories.
