MEDIA RELEASE MAY 2014
Vacancy: One Stella Job
This month Sam Cunningham, from Blankenberge Belgian Beer Café in Auckland, could possibly have the best job in the world.
As the Stella Artois Draught Master for New Zealand, Sam is heading to Cannes France for the 17th edition of the Stella Artois World Draught Masters. Competing against the world’s finest Stella Artois bar staff in one of the most glamorous settings, Sam will be squaring off to take out not only the competition title but also the chance to become an international brand ambassador for Stella Artois. The role would see Sam jet setting around the world for a year, spreading the Stella love and the famous 9-Step Pour process.
With an ex-All Black as a dad, Sam comes from rugby pedigree and is a promising player himself; he has however put that on the back burner to pursue a career in hospitality.
“It was a tough decision to put rugby to the side, but at the end of the day, the chance to become the international Stella Artois brand ambassador is way too good an opportunity to not have a crack at.”
“It would definitely be a dream come true to take out the title. My old man and the rest of the family will be over there too so I’ll definitely have some good Kiwi support on my side!”
The judges will be looking for the highest degree of quality, excellence and execution but most importantly – passion for the Stella Artois brand.
Pete Dick, NZ Brand Manager at Stella Artois, says: “Sam has been pouring all his energy into this and he really has a great shot at taking out the title. Traditionally New Zealanders have done very well at the competition, having won it three times, since the competition first started in 1997, and we can’t wait to see how he gets on.”
The World Stella Artois Draught Master final will be held at Hotel Martinez, Cannes, France on Saturday May 17th.
