Mud House has received a gold medal for their 2012 Mud House Estate Claim 431 Central Otago Pinot Noir from the highly acclaimed International Wine Challenge (IWC) Tranche 2 awards in 2014.
New Zealand Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc excelled in this year’s competition, with 23 of the Gold medals being awarded to those varietals; 10 of which were for Pinot Noir.
Accolade New Zealand, Sales and Marketing Manager, Jack Glover, is pleased that the Claim 431 Pinot Noir was placed amongst the New Zealand gold medal haul. “This provides further recognition of the calibre of our Claim 431 Vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago; and reinforces it as a world class producer of Pinot Noir,” Jack said.
This year for the first time, the IWC hosted two separate tasting events, Tranche 1 in November 2013 and Tranche 2 in April 2014. This split tasting was designed to accommodate the different production and sales schedules across the globe, giving winemakers more flexibility of when to enter their wines.
Charles Metcalfe, the co-Chairman of the IWC commented, “The International Wine Challenge is committed to rigorous and fair tasting and has subsequently earned its reputation as the most well-respected wine competition in the world. By hosting two separate tasting events across the year, wines are given the best chance to perform well, whatever their origin.”
Mud House also received a gold medal for the 2013 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in Tranche 1, judged in November 2013.
Silver medals were awarded in Tranche 2 to the 2013 Mud House Estate The Mound Vineyard Waipara Valley Riesling, 2013 Mud House Estate The Home Block Vineyard Waipara Valley Pinot Gris and the 2013 Mud House Marlborough Gewürztraminer.
End.
