T’is the season

T’is the season

At the weekend New Zealand’s duck shooting season started with a bang. So too has ‘tax season’ which runs from 1 April – mid June. With less than 6 weeks to go until the refunds are flying, hard working Kiwis should do their tax returns by the end of May to ensure they get payment in mid-June.

Duck shooting is way more complicated than claiming a tax refund. Duck hunters need a hunting licence, shotgun and shot, camouflage gear and face paint, well designed and positioned maimai, decoys, retriever dog or boat, duck caller, must comply with a 50 bird limit and spend an entire weekend in a maimai with no guarantee you’ll even be successful.

In contrast, claiming a tax refund with NZ Tax Refunds is much faster, safer, warmer and drier and only requires a phone, smart phone, tablet or computer. The average refund is $464 and takes 60 seconds. (That’s about the same cost as a hunting licence, decent duck decoys and dog food!).

With a new app for all iOS and Android devices and a website refresh for desktop users and upgrades to the NZ Tax Refund mobile website it’s even faster. The app release marks the next evolution in tax refunds and is the first of its kind in New Zealand allowing refunds to be processed in real time with the Inland Revenue (IR). Making applying for WooHoo tax refunds even smarter, easier and faster.

Plus WooHoo, NZ Tax Refund’s fees are 100% tax deductible. This means you can claim the expense against your income in the following year. Also if there’s no tax refund owed, then there’s no fee. Imagine if there was a ‘no duck no licence refund’ offer from Fish and Game!

If successful, both duck shooting and receiving an online tax refund can result in a serious ‘WooHoo’. Although if out shooting this may scare away the ducks.
