Hamilton property market surging ahead

Hamilton property market surging ahead

Press Release: Harcourts
1 May 2014

A strong local economy and increasing job opportunities is driving a growing demand for real estate in Hamilton City.

So much so that Hamilton’s largest real estate group, Harcourts Hamilton, is expanding with the opening of its eighth office in Rototuna.

Harcourts Hamilton owner Brian King says people are relocating to the city to take advantage of the job market.

“We have a good local economy, our commercial sector is growing and so is our population. I have a real confidence in our real estate market and I think it’s going to continue to improve.”

Brian, and business partner Davinder Singh, have been working in real estate within Hamilton for a combined total of over 55 years, so both have a keen understanding of market trends and cycles.

Brian says the loan-to-value restrictions introduced in October last year temporarily put the brakes on for first home buyers, however that market is beginning to recover as people find alternative ways to come up with 20% deposits.

While Hamilton’s market has not reached the overheated levels of Auckland, the city is experiencing increases in prices. The average price now sits at $360,883, which is up 10% on the same time last year.

Brian says this is good for people looking to sell, and expected continuing high demand means people wishing to get on the property ladder should do so sooner rather than later.

Brian and Davinder are well known around Hamilton for more than their expertise in real estate. They are committed to helping local charities and improving the lives of people within the Waikato.

Over the years the pair have worked tirelessly to raise money for hundreds of causes, including children’s charities, hospice, cancer, epilepsy, heart health, schools and sports clubs.

A survivor of lymphoma, Brian is particularly passionate about medical and cancer related causes.

He is a member of the Waikato Hospice Foundation and is a strong advocate for the Medical Research Foundation.

Brian says he feels strongly about doing as much as he can to support people who are suffering.

“If we all do our little bit, we can together achieve so much to change someone’s life.”

It’s this dedication to helping others, as well as a commitment to providing a first class experience to clients that has helped Harcourts Hamilton become the biggest real estate group within the Waikato.

Brian says Harcourts Hamilton is privately owned and operated by Hamilton locals who understand and are committed to the community they live in.

Today they have a team of over 80 sales consultants, with more than a third of that number having been with Harcourts Hamilton for more than 10 years.

“We are an experienced team and we are all excited about the soon-to-open Rototuna office. We already have 12 sales consultants ready to join the office and serve our community in the north-east of Hamilton. At Harcourts Hamilton we aim to create clients for life through our outstanding service and look forward to extending the same philosophy in our Rototuna office.”

The Rototuna office will complement the already established Harcourts Chartwell office in servicing the north-east of the city.

Harcourts CEO Hayden Duncan says Brian, Davinder and the team at Harcourts Hamilton are the real estate experts in Hamilton and the fact they are expanding is an excellent indicator the local market is buoyant.

“No one has a better local knowledge than Brian and Davinder. If you want real estate advice or to get a better understanding of market trends, Harcourts Hamilton should be your first stop.”
