MINI New Zealand Hatches Plan to Remake New Original
One of New Zealand’s favourite movies, Goodbye Pork Pie, is set to make a comeback with MINI New Zealand announcing plans to remake the film’s iconic Lake Hawea chase scene.
The shoot will feature a number of ‘new originals,’ including a new Director, new cast and the all new MINI Hatch in place of the original 1978 model.
The all new MINI Hatch went on sale in New Zealand earlier this month, it features a new generation of more powerful and fuel efficient engines, a stylish new interior cockpit design that raises the bar to unprecedented standards, the introduction of latest technologies including variable driving modes, and options such as head-up display and LED headlights.
BMW Group New Zealand, Managing Director, Nina Englert explains “what better way to celebrate the launch of the all new MINI Hatch here in New Zealand, than to recreate a scene from the original classic Goodbye Pork Pie”.
MINI plans to get Kiwis in behind the remake by inviting them to be a part of the action.
“MINI is excited to revive New Zealand’s love affair with Goodbye Pork Pie by recreating the iconic Lake Hawea chase scene with an all-star line-up. The new MINI Hatch set to enjoy a starring role, we now need one brave kiwi to join us on our journey,” Ms Englert says.
Through a series of challenges via a dedicated website, MINI is recruiting for honorary members of the “Blondini gang” the self-titled misfits from the film. The Goodbye Pork Pie 2014 Challenges dare kiwis to be a little adventurous and apply their sense of humor by generating their Blondini Gang Name or getting into some Blondini costume.
While many will win movie prize packs, one lucky person will get to star in the scene, winning a coveted spot in the MINI’s passenger seat as it burns around Lake Hawea with the ‘cops’ in hot pursuit. As an additional bonus, they will get to drive the new MINI for a month. Although MINI will ask the winner to return the car whole and not to sell off the panels and parts as the Blondini Gang did in the original film.
Recruitment for the starring role and associated competition challenges is now open with entries closing 5 May 2014.
