Emirates’ Onboard Amenities Win Top Honours
Emirates Airline has received international recognition for its onboard amenities, winning top honours for its Business
Class amenity kits and children’s give-aways at the recent TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards 2013 held in Hamburg.
Emirates, which has four daily New Zealand flights to Dubai and beyond via Australia, was judged best in three
categories: Business Class-Female (Middle East); Business Class-Male (Middle East); and Children’s Goody Bag or Give
Away (Under six years). The judging criteria placed emphasis on how the amenity kits were designed with the traveller in
mind, and measured how the kits stacked up against trend, pleasure, luxury, usability and style ratings. A total of 120
entries were considered for the 20 different awards categories.
“Our premium class passengers love our amenity kits and we have received lots of very positive feedback on the quality
of our products, and how they look and feel special,” said Robin Padgett, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Catering.
“When designing our amenity kits, we carefully consider what our passengers want and how we can balance the luxury,
quality, function and aesthetics. Emirates kitbags contain useful travel essentials from well-known brands including
exclusive Bvlgari products. The fact that most of our passengers take their kits from the aircraft speaks volumes for
how our customers perceive the value and usability of the products,” he added.
In the category for Children’s Goody Bag or Give-Away (Under six years), Emirates’ latest edition of the ‘Fly With Me Monster’ collection received the top prize. The collection includes blanket buddies, seatbelt critters and magnetic sketchers.
First launched in 2012, Emirates’ ‘Fly With Me Monster’ collection is a range of original monster characters each with their own personalities and traits. Each monster got its
unique name from nominations received from across the globe - from Emirates’ 2.8 million-strong Facebook community, its
employees across 80 countries, to Emirates’ Skywards junior Skysurfer members.
“Families have come to expect stress-free travel with Emirates. On our part, we are always looking for new and
interesting ways to engage our young travellers when they fly with us. We work hard to ensure that the journey is part
of the fun, and all of our toys and children’s products, including our ‘Fly With Me Monster’ collection, are designed in that spirit,” Mr Padgett said.
Last year, Emirates gave away 2.4 million amenity kits to its premium customers, while nearly 3.5 million monster toys
have been distributed to Emirates’ young customers since their launch in 2012.
The TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards were launched in 2009 to celebrate the best amenity bags across all cabin
classes among the world’s leading airlines and the number of awards categories has since increased.
