Free tips on long term success for innovative local businesses
Christchurch, April 17, 2014 - Kiwis are known for their can-do attitude and clever ideas, but how many actually make it
to market and provide the innovative thinker with the business of a lifetime?
Not as many as should do. It’s a challenge, but the key is doing the long term thinking up front to achieve sustainable
success.
A practical, free seminar being held on May 5 at the Westpac Hub covers the life cycle of innovative ideas, with a
particular focus on the agribusiness and food technology sectors.
Led by intellectual property (IP) expert Jonathan Lucas of James & Wells, and Catalyst director Jane Lancaster, the seminar will enable local Christchurch innovators to make the most of
their ideas by:
• Planning for challenges their products or services could face;
• Capturing and exploiting their intellectual property;
• Turning business cost into business opportunity; and
• Combining customer value with innovation and product stewardship.
Jonathan is a senior associate who specialises in helping clients of all sizes to formulate and execute IP strategies.
His particular expertise is in protecting innovative ideas using patents and registered designs across a broad range of
technologies.
