Royal Visit results in great exposure for Explore Group and NZ tourism
The highly publicised match race between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Friday shone the international media spotlight brightly on Explore Group, New Zealand’s preeminent marine tourism operator.
Explore Group were proud to be part of the event supplying the yachts and crew for the Royal event.
Experiencing unprecedented attention the resulting exposure has included prime placement in print, television and social media around the world.
The event received front page media coverage in international press publications including The Guardian, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror in the UK and interviews with key Explore crew went out across TV networks internationally including CNN, ABC and Sky News.
In the 24hours following the event the company’s website doubled its visitor numbers and social media engagement swelled with over 25,000 responding to the match race through Twitter and Facebook. The Royal visit dominated social media throughout the official tour with keywords #RoyalTourNZ and #RoyalVisitNZ trending throughout the week.
Although hard to quantify, the value of high profile international media coverage easily exceeds multi-million dollar exposure, not only to those directly involved with events on the official Royal itinerary but for New Zealand tourism in general with the official tour covering a wide scope of what New Zealand can offer the international traveller.
Explore Group’s authentic America’s Cup sailing experiences are available to the public, sailing from Auckland’s viaduct daily, as well as being available for exclusive charter and corporate events.
