Online Consumer Electronics Shopping Behaviour -
NZ Survey and Statistics
Do you want to know how the leading New Zealand consumer electronic stores are ranking within Google? What's most important for consumers when shopping online? Do consumers prefer to purchase their electronics online or in store?
FIRST, a leading New Zealand
multi-disciplinary digital agency that focuses on delivering
campaigns and creative that targets, captures, engages,
convinces and converts consumers, researched and discovered
that:
• More than half of all analysed consumer electronic stores rank very low in their Rankings Based Reach (RBR), which means that there is large potential for these stores to capture more online demand and increase visits to their sites.
• Currently Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi and Noel Leeming are leading the way and capture a big proportion of visitors through their strong organic presence.
• Unfortunately most retailers are missing out on what is potentially the most cost effective marketing channel: Search
Additionally FIRST carried out a consumer
research study which reveals that people typically use
Google’s search engine when researching or looking to
purchase consumer electronics, followed by the second most
common way, which is 'to directly go to the known store'.
Electronic stores therefore need sustained focus on
natural search optimisation if they want to increase their
market share online and capture more of the non brand
related search.
These and other valuable insights are available in this full report, in which FIRST used its bespoke metric called RBR (Ranking Based Reach) to estimate how well a company is ranking within Google’s search engine.
