Enterprising Changes in Taupo
After four years of
providing direction and leadership to the Board of
Enterprise Great Lake Taupo, local accountant and
entrepreneur Sue de Bievre has stepped down as Chair.
New Board Chairman, Greg Stebbing, paid tribute to Sue and the expertise she has contributed to Enterprise Great Lake Taupo during her tenure.
“Sue has built an impressive board in its formative stages and led the organisation at a very hands-on level for the past few years,” said Greg. “Her strength in ensuring that the Board maintained a strategic focus and her passion for innovation will be missed. We acknowledge her dedication and commitment to economic growth for the Taupo district, and wish her well for her new business, Beany.biz.”
Greg has served as an Independent Trustee on Enterprise Great Lake Taupo for the past two and half years, and brings to the table close to 40 years of experience in the forestry and timber manufacturing sector.
His extensive knowledge of the primary sector and investment decision making provides essential skills around the table, and coupled with his expertise in corporate governance made him a logical and popular candidate for incoming Chair.
Greg is of Tuwharetoa descent and also has close connections to Tuwharetoa commercial entities which are a focus area for Enterprise Great Lake Taupo.
“I think Enterprise Great Lake Taupo has achieved a lot over the past few years, although due to the nature of the work we do, the results are largely unseen by the general public,” said Greg. “We are focused on ensuring we have the capability to turn ideas into viable commercial businesses that will create jobs and generate economic benefit for the greater Taupo region.”
“I believe our priorities for next twelve months are to continue looking to attract investors in the forestry and direct use geothermal energy sectors, and to keep working with Taupo District Council to ensure we are an easy place to do business.”
“We have a great team who have huge passion for growing the economy of the district, that partner with our very skilled governance Board who represent a wide range of businesses and possess diverse industry knowledge,” said Greg.
