Colliers wins nationwide Z Energy Property contract

Colliers Corporate Solutions wins nationwide Z Energy Property Management contract

28 March 2014 —Colliers International’s Corporate Solutions division has won the property management contract for Z Energy’s nationwide real estate portfolio.

The appointment covers the property and lease management of all Z Energy’s property holdings around New Zealand, including over 300 service stations and truck stops, along with general aviation sites and corporate offices.

Don Smith, National Director of Corporate Solutions, says the Z appointment is the latest success in a strong growth phase for the team, which has also won major appointments from the New Zealand Transport Agency, Land Information New Zealand, and the Office of Treaty Settlements. This has seen a significant expansion of the team to in excess of 30 Property Professionals providing services to a diverse and growing client base.

“We are delighted to be selected by Z to manage its property portfolio and look forward to working with such a dynamic, growing company which has already become an icon on the New Zealand landscape. We will be working with Z, applying our skills, process and systems to give them the optimal property platform that supports the needs of their operations and network” says Don Smith.

Gail Calder, Asset Manager at Z Energy, says the company decided to outsource property and lease management work on its portfolio, which it previously handled in-house, to Colliers International to tap into their specialist expertise and proven track record on managing national geographically distributed portfolios.

“We appointed Colliers International because of the team’s approach to understanding the place of property in supporting our business and their structured approach to managing the portfolio that will deliver financial and operational benefits to Z. We have a significant investment in our network and they demonstrated how we could maximise our return on that investment. Following a rigorous assessment of the options available we chose Colliers and we are looking forward to partnering with them.”

Colliers International’s Corporate Solutions division provides services to clients who own or lease property for non-core business reasons, for example to provide office space for staff, properties held for future projects or operations, manufacturing space for production, or provide a retail network / footprint for the distribution of products and services. The division helps clients maximise the value they derive from their portfolio and ensure it aligns and supports the clients business and operations.

The team’s recent Office of Treaty Settlements appointment covers property and facilities management for the Office’s nationwide property portfolio, covering all property held for current and future Treaty of Waitangi claims. It incorporates a wide variety of properties including commercial, industrial, retail, residential, rural, forestry and infrastructural sites around the country.

The Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) contract encapsulates in excess of 5,000 properties throughout New Zealand. The portfolio incorporates a diverse range of properties. This nationwide contract expands on the North Island portfolio that Colliers has managed for LINZ for a number of years.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) contract covers the NZTA’s property portfolios in the South Island and central North Island. Colliers’ Hamilton office also won NZTA’s portfolio management contract for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. The scope incorporates all property held by NZTA for current and future roading projects, covering a range of urban and rural sites.
