Vodafone brings sporting first to New Zealand
Vodafone is helping Vodafone Warriors
fans get closer to the game than before with the socially
driven Vodafone FanPic product.
.
In
partnership with global company Huggity,
the company will deliver a fan engagement first for New
Zealand, and for the NRL, at the Vodafone Warriors’ game
against Wests Tigers in Wellington on Saturday.
FanPic app is based on a 360-degree panoramic, multibillion pixel crowd image (36 billion pixels) taken at events. It allows fans to zoom, find themselves, tag their position and share it with their family and friends on Facebook. Even fans not attending the game, can still play.
FanPic has already been used at many of the world’s premier sporting venues, but on Saturday, Westpac Stadium will become the first venue anywhere in New Zealand to showcase it. Fanpic will be used to capture Vodafone’s halftime entertainment - New Zealand’s Biggest Air Guitar Band, led by John Toogood.
Vodafone New Zealand’s Consumer Director Matt Williams said the company is excited to be the first to bring Fanpic to New Zealand.
“FanPic is about social engagement and using Vodafone technology to make the game day even more enjoyable and interactive.” he said. “We wanted to deliver a totally new experience, one that Vodafone Warriors members and fans have come to expect from us.”
“We know sport is a religion in New Zealand and how much Kiwis love their national teams, which makes this FanPic one of the most anticipated and exciting for the Vodafone and Huggity teams.
“Each tag made by a user is posted to their Facebook news feed and is visible on walls of all their friends, multiplying impressions in Facebook news feeds and thus extending the reach of promotional messages and engaging audiences who can’t attend the event.
