New Zealand on show in Sydney

Conventions & Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) chief executive Alan Trotter has presided over his last Australian function, hosting around 60 business event organisers at ivy Penthouse in Sydney.

The cocktail function was organised by CINZ, in partnership with Tourism New Zealand, as part of their combined push to promote New Zealand as the ideal destination for business events and incentive travel.

Guests at the function were treated to top class New Zealand wine and food and were given the opportunity to hear from Kiwi adventurer and leadership development consultant Jamie Fitzgerald.

Star of the television series First Crossings, Mr Fitzgerald is a world-class pioneer whose adventures have included rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and trekking across the icy continent of Antarctica.

Mr Trotter, who is due to retire at the end of April, says the function was the perfect opportunity to thank the Australian business events industry for its support over the years and to brief them on some of the exciting developments taking place in New Zealand.

“The Australian market has, and will always be, the most important source market for conventions and incentives of any country for New Zealand,’’ he says.

“With three, possibly four, new convention centres in the pipeline in New Zealand we’re going to be able to offer our Australian cousins some great 21st century venues for conferences and conventions and provide them with more options for their business events than they’ve ever had before.’’

The cocktail function was supported by CINZ platinum members: Accor New Zealand, Air New Zealand, Auckland Convention Bureau, Auckland Conventions Venues & Events, Heritage Hotels, IHG New Zealand, The Langham Auckland, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, Rotorua Events & Venues, Rydges New Zealand and SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre.
