Annoucements to streamline business interaction great news

Today's announcements to support and streamline business and government interaction have been welcomed by the Wellington Employers' Chamber of Commerce.

The integrated Employer Registration service and New Zealand Business Number, which were both launched today, will go a long way to cutting more red tape says Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley.

“This is good news for business.

“The Employer Registration service enables businesses to supply key information only once will save precious time and money.

“This is particularly important for small businesses, which make up the vast bulk of companies in New Zealand and which most of the time don’t have the resources to easily deal with the often time-consuming tasks required of them.

“Till now that meant key people had to drop what they were doing to merely duplicate information already held by the government.

"This will change that, and will be welcomed by business.”

"We were also pleased to see the New Zealand Business Number launched at Xero in Wellington.

"A universal identifier is a positive step to help streamline businesses interaction with the plethora of government agencies.

"We will be submitting as part of the month-long consultation on options for extending coverage to other businesses, including sole traders , and encourage our members to provide feedback as well."
