10 March 2014

MEDIA RELEASE

PlaceMakers Whangaparaoa up Sticks And Heads for the Tavern!

After 17 years in Whangaparaoa, PlaceMakers is making the move from Whangaparaoa Road (store closes on the 28th March) to an 8,000 square metre plus site on the corner of East Coast Bays Road and Tavern Road, Silverdale. The new branch will be opening on the 31st of March (correct at time of release, may be subject to change).

Greenslade Building Limited is the company behind the construction; the store has been designed and built with the customer and the environment in mind:
• Customer First Design Principles: Designed to help customers (and staff) gather materials quickly and comfortably and be heading back to the work site.
- Approx. 8 x the undercover stock storage area compared to the previous site with an expansive and easy access drive-through
- 65 car parks (incl. 10 undercover) minimises delays and hassle
- Larger showroom with room to display the latest in building solutions including Kitchens and Bathrooms
- Low racking design provides better sight lines which means easier visibility of product.
• Sustainable building practices mean a reduced environmental footprint.
• A comprehensive range – A comprehensive offering – over 5,500 products including 750 new product additions. PlaceMakers ‘special orders’ service enable an almost limitless choice of product.
• PlaceMakers Silverdale core trade range is pledged to never be ‘out of stock’.

It’s a bigger and better experience for customers with the new PlaceMakers Silverdale trading from a site that’s over 8000m2. The undercover drive-through area is approximately eight times the size of the existing Whangaparaoa store. The total yard size is 2700m2 and will substantially benefit the customer in terms of ease of access to products and traffic management. The aim is to make it easy for customers to get what they need without hassle or delays.

For those looking to pop in and browse or discuss their projects with the team, the 65 car parks (including 10 undercover) make it easy to do just that. The larger showroom will display an updated trade-focused product range, low level racking and the latest Peter Hay kitchen displays. These kitchens are designed to a high specification; they look fantastic, are affordable and the quality is superb.

PlaceMakers are committed to the environment and sustainable building practices. The new purpose built store will utilise “green” building initiatives, such as daylight harvesting, energy efficient lighting and water saving systems all designed to minimise PlaceMakers environmental footprint.

PlaceMakers acting General Manager of Operations, Mike Lockyer says ‘Every new store we build will be built to a standard that is energy efficient and in-line with sustainable building practices.’

As part of the commitment to the trade, PlaceMakers is pledging that the core trade lines will never be ‘out of stock’. Mike Lockyer says ‘We know that delivering in full and on time is the key to a successful project for our customers, we are committed to making sure that these core trade lines are always in-stock. We will be measuring our success in this area and we will get this right, it’s a priority.’

As well as the move to more up-to-date facilities, it’s a new era for PlaceMakers in North Auckland as operator John Gair takes on the challenge of servicing the needs of a fast developing Silverdale and Rodney district. John’s experience in civil and rural pipeline systems serves him well in an area where urban meets rural – he understands the dynamics and infrastructure needs of a developing suburb.

“The opportunities are fantastic” says John “the easy access and proximity to motorway feeders mean that a quick PlaceMakers pit stop at ‘The Tavern’ should be hassle free for a busy building industry.”

John says “The PlaceMakers Silverdale team is all about putting our customers first. We want to deliver maximum value and outstanding customer service each and every day. The goal is to ensure that, ultimately, nobody is easier to do business with than PlaceMakers.”

PlaceMakers Silverdale serves the Auckland area, Rodney, and the Islands of the Gulf.
