Hospo to nominate the best
The Hawke’s Bay Hospitality Awards 2014 nominations open to the industry on Thursday 6th March. The event, running for the 7th year, has become an important part of the region’s event calendar. It identifies the diligent workers in all areas of Hospitality and acknowledges their achievements.
To keep the event current and recognise industry trends, a new category has been introduced and an existing category revised:
The Elephant Hill Outstanding Emerging Restaurant is to reflect the vibrancy of the current hospitality market and recognises the emergence of many new dining establishments in the region. Restaurants eligible for this category will have opened within the last two years (since 6 March 2012) or be an existing hospitality business under new ownership since that date.
The Grande Gourmet Outstanding Restaurant category criteria has been renamed Outstanding Established Restaurant to reflect the establishments that have stood the test of time, have proven themselves to be dependable and reliable, often in a competitive market place.
New sponsor, Elephant Hill’s Marketing Manager Vince Labat says ‘Elephant Hill is delighted to support these emerging restaurants that offer a fresh and innovative dining experience for locals and visitors alike, places that reflect current dining trends. The Hospitality Awards has become an important part of the industry, giving people in Hawke’s Bay the chance to shine.’
The Hospitality Awards voting process is open only to the Hospitality Industry in Hawke’s Bay (Wairoa to Dannevirke) which allows workers to nominate who they believe is the best in up to 15 different categories.
The nominations are then counted and the top four become finalists in each category where the industry will again vote for the MOST OUTSTANDING in the industry.
“The awards are a means of reassuring members of the public that these establishments and the people within the industry are worthy of recognition and makes their dining choices easier” Manager of Food Hawke’s Bay, Vicky Rope says.
Events like this do not happen without the support of sponsor businesses they truly believe in this industry and are willing to be part of an exciting event like this one. Mrs Rope says “we are very pleased to have our inaugural sponsors on board once again and also welcome new sponsors Zeelandt Brewery, Napier i-Site, Basepoint and Elephant Hill for this years’ event.”
