PlaceMakers and Paddon: A team that’s about Building Success
It’s exciting news for all New Zealanders who love to see one of our own doing us proud on the world stage. New
Zealand’s top driver Hayden Paddon has signed with Hyundai Motorsport to contest seven events in the 2014 FIA World
Rally Championship (WRC).
PlaceMakers is one of three key sponsors who have signed on to support three-time New Zealand #1 Rally Driver, Hayden
Paddon. PlaceMakers joins VINZ and PAK‘nSAVE as the triumvirate of major sponsors supporting Paddon’s campaign to become
World Rally Champion.
PlaceMakers have sponsored Paddon for the past three years and are impressed by the ‘Can do’ that Hayden and his team
display despite the ups and downs of professional rally sport.
“Hayden has been and continues to be a great ambassador for the sport and PlaceMakers,” said PlaceMakers Brand and
Strategy manager, Maria Reinbergen.
“He is the face of P.A.S.S. (the PlaceMakers Apprentice Scholarship Scheme) and we believe that he’s a great role model
for young people. He’s humble and down to earth but he also has great determination and ambition. He’s a Kiwi taking on
the world and we are proud to be part of the team.”
Paddon says, “It’s great to have PlaceMakers as part of my sponsorship family. Their support means my team and I can
participate in the sport we love and achieve great things while we’re doing it. This year is a dream opportunity, to
compete in seven WRC rallies with a respected team. It is an opportunity we intend to make the most of, by learning and
developing with the team.”
Paddon is understandably delighted about the opportunity which sees him become the first New Zealander to secure a
professional contract to compete in the World Rally Championship.
“It is an incredible opportunity to be part of the Hyundai Motorsport team in these very exciting times. This is what we
have worked so hard for, and it will allow us to step up another level with a good programme, a good team and a good
testing and development programme,” Paddon said.
