AMI Insurance warns of possible investment scam
AMI Insurance has been made aware of what we believe could be a telephone scam where people are being contacted by someone claiming to be from the company and asked whether they have a bach.
The caller refers to the company they are representing as "AMI Investments” which is not linked to AMI Insurance in any way.
Anyone receiving such an unsolicited call should hang up and notify AMI on 0800 100 200.
AMI Insurance issued a similar warning in 2010 about another potential telephone scam where people claiming to be from the company asked for sums of $10,000 to $25,000 to be invested at an interest rate of 13 per cent.
The caller first referred to the company as “AMI” then when questioned said the company was “Australia Marketing Investments”, “AMI Australia” or “Australian or Australasian Mutual Investments”.
