Auckland Triathlon and Air NZ: Early Bird Incentive

25 February 2014

Auckland Triathlon Partners With Air NZ for Early Bird Incentive

The Barfoot & Thompson ITU World Triathlon and Queen Street Golden Mile on April 5-6 have announced a promotion with Air New Zealand that will further encourage participants to sign up for any of the many events on offer.

In a promotion dubbed ‘enter, race then relax in Fiji’ all who enter any one of the events on or before February 28 will automatically go in the draw to win one of four ‘return flights for two to Fiji’.

Event marketing manager Michelle Pepper says the weekend is a celebration of everyone’s ability to take part in one of the many events on offer, so it was thought the incentive of some sun in Fiji would be the perfect motivation for an early entry.

“The Barfoot & Thompson ITU World Triathlon is not only a showcase of the best in the world racing in the opening round of the ITU World Triathlon Series, it is a chance for all of Auckland and New Zealand to be a part of the weekend’s many activities.

“There is something for everyone, from taking part in the Queen Street Golden Mile with kids, beginners and club runner options or the wide variety of triathlon options we have open, from the swim/run to a super sprint triathlon right up to a standard distance triathlon with team options.

“There really is an achievable event or part of an event for the whole family, and the added incentive of flights to Fiji for you and a friend is just the icing on the cake. All you have to do is enter before midnight on Friday February 28 and you are in to win. As we say for this event, ‘Come Play in the City’ and who knows, you could be jetting off to Fiji.”

The Barfoot & Thompson ITU World Triathlon will be based in the heart of the city, with race headquarters based at The Cloud on Queens Wharf while the many different event options will take in parts of the downtown CBD and waterfront, with great viewing areas for the public including a finish line grandstand where the elite athletes will pass by on multiple occasions during the multi-lap bike and run legs of the ITU World Series Triathlon on the Sunday.

Age group and fun events will take place on the Saturday and Sunday morning, with the elite ITU World Triathlon Series races taking place on Sunday afternoon, either side of the Queen Street Golden Mile. Entry to all events is available now on the website, www.triauckland.co.nz
