Premium Amisfield Wines To Be Showcased

MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE USE – FEBRUARY 25 2014

Premium Amisfield Wines To Be Showcased At World-Class Queenstown Event

Amisfield will celebrate and showcase a premium selection of its multi-award-winning wines at the New Zealand Open this week (February 27 – March 2).

The specialist producer of Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines has forged a new partnership with the NZ Open, which is bringing some of the world’s top golfers and international celebrities to the prestigious The Hills and Millbrook golf courses in Queenstown.

Amisfield wines, sourced from fruit grown on its single estate vineyard beneath the Pisa Mountain range in the renowned Central Otago region, will be the only wines served during the four-day event to players, celebrities, corporate groups, VIPs and members of the public.

The privately-owned winery is also the inaugural sponsor of Open Sounds, an open-air concert on the penultimate evening of the event featuring Kiwi singer/songwriter Anika Moa and up-and-coming local songbird Holly Arrowsmith.

Earlier in the day Amisfield will also host an exclusive Partners Lunch at its award-winning Winery & Bistro, with a fashion show by Dunedin-based New Zealand fashion designer Company of Strangers featuring its AW14 collection ‘Libertine’. Since its inception in 2008, Company of Strangers has grown a cult following with its range of high quality garments, leather accessories and jewellery.

Amisfield is the exclusive wine sponsor and supplier to Company of Strangers, and their designer Sara Munro designed Amisfield Winery & Bistro’s female staff uniform.

“Being a global brand  we’re delighted to support an international, world-class event taking place right on our doorstep which gives us the opportunity to showcase our wines to a very discerning and eclectic audience,” said Amisfield CEO Craig Erasmus.

“As Queenstown’s reputation as a golf destination continues to grow alongside its appeal as a wine destination, we see increasing numbers of golfers visit our winery and bistro overlooking Lake Hayes and leave as loyal fans after they’ve experienced our food and wine.

“Our intention is to enable those attending the golf to experience a small part of what we have to offer and get an insight into the uniqueness of our story.

“Not many people are aware that we are one of the largest single vineyards in Central Otago and that all our wine comes from this one site which is something quite special.

“We have exclusive distribution arrangements with high-end Chinese and Japanese wine distributors, so the fact that the NZ Open continues to attract top Asian players and media also makes this event a perfect match for us.”

Wines being served at the NZ Open will include the newly-released Amisfield Pinot Noir 2011, Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Dry Riesling 2012, Pinot Gris 2012, Rosé 2013 and Arcadia Brut NV.

Amisfield has been involved in the Central Otago wine industry for 25 years, and starts its 12th vintage in late March. While still a relatively young winemaking company, Amisfield has become a strong global brand with multiple worldwide wine awards and accolades under its belt.
