Vodafone unveils largest 4G international roaming network
Vodafone New Zealand has announced it will switch on 4G international roaming later this year, allowing its customers to be the first to experience superfast access to Vodafone networks in NZ, Australia, the UK and Europe.
From winter 2014, consumers and business customers travelling overseas will be able to take advantage of 4G mobile services when using their smartphones and tablets in 18 countries worldwide.
Matt Williams, Vodafone’s Consumer Director, says 4G is great for travellers, whether they are on business or on holiday.
“Much faster, simpler to use and more convenient than typical hotel WiFi connections, 4G will give our customers high-speed connections for video, music streaming, web surfing, working and much more – anywhere, from the airport to the café.
"In New Zealand, 4G is already transforming the way Kiwis live, work and play, and now – only with Vodafone – this will be possible for Kiwis when they travel."
Enterprise Director, Grant Hopkins says the company's advantage is due to being connected to one of the world's largest mobile companies.
“Vodafone New Zealand is in an enviable position, with the largest global network at its fingertips – and therefore at the fingertips of its customers.
“Our customers are among the most mobile in the world; among the fastest adopters of new technology; and among the biggest travellers globally. To extend access so customers can continue to enjoy superfast speeds internationally is a natural next step.”
Vodafone Group in the UK already offers 4G roaming on its own networks in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain. Between now and the end of 2014, Vodafone would launch 4G roaming in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. In addition, Vodafone customers will be able to use 4G networks of other telecommunications companies in Austria, Belgium, France, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Switzerland.
The addition of 4G roaming is another enhancement to the Vodafone SuperNet™.
