Funeral directors elect new President

Media release from Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand

Funeral directors elect new President

Last night the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) announced the election of a new President, Gavin Murphy, at their annual conference held in Blenheim.

FDANZ is an association which represents approximately 80% of funerals conducted in New Zealand every year.

Mr Murphy is a principal funeral director at Gee & Hickton Funeral Directors in Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt.

“Continuity of care for the deceased is just as important as for those living, and the members of FDANZ have standards and a code of ethics to ensure that this level of care is delivered” Mr Murphy says.

“The industry is facing both opportunities and challenges in the future and the association will lead this positive change.”

There are approximately 30,000 deaths in New Zealand each year.
