Christchurch Airport Engages with Chinese Travelers using Sina Weibo
Beijing, China – 24th January 2014 – Digital Jungle, China’s largest independent content focused, digital marketing Agency announced today that it has been appointed the Social Media Agency by Christchurch Airport in New Zealand.
This partnership will see Digital Jungle managing the Chinese social media accounts to promote the airport as the gateway to New Zealand’s South Island.
According to Matthew Findlay, Christchurch Airport’s General Manager Aeronautical Business Development, this partnership offers up the Airport a great platform to promote travel to the region and more broadly the country. “Our reach in China through a social marketing program will ensure we have a digital voice among the estimated 87 million outbound Chinese travelers. Additionally, China has 618 million internet users where almost 95% of these people have social media accounts. These numbers alone make having a Chinese social media program an obvious choice for Christchurch Airport. As the gateway to the beautiful South Island, many visitors from China have come to explore New Zealand’s famous scenery and participate in many of the wonderful experiences on offer here. A social media voice will encourage more to also have this exclusive experience” said Findlay.
Through the Chinese social media program the Airport will also be able to learn more about Chinese travelers interests and concerns. Dr. Mathew McDougall, Founder and CEO of Digital Jungle said, “Social media marketing is about creating relationships and given the airport is often the first port of call for a destination, this offers a unique way to welcome Chinese to Christchurch and the wider South Island of New Zealand. Digital Jungle has created a verified Sina Weibo account for the airport and we look forward to building a Chinese following that can learn more about activities within the airport as well as this beautiful region and what it has to offer.”
