Single Visa Fast Tracks Indian Interest
The India New Zealand Business Council (INZBC) congratulates the Tourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF) and Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA) for coming together and encouraging
both the Australian and New Zealand governments for creating a single visa for visiting cricket fans attending the ICC
Cricket World Cup in 2015.
"This initiative, which we believe is a first for both countries, has bowled us over" says INZBC chairman Sunil Kaushal.
"What a fantastic initiative to encourage visitors from India, where cricket is held in such high regard by so many,
will surely result in a vast number of fans visiting both countries in 2015".
Indian cricket fans will be able to apply for one visa for both Australia and New Zealand and will pay only one fee. It
will make traveling between the two countries seamless for the duration of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015.
"The INZBC will play a role in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015 by encouraging high net worth Indian business leaders
to visit, and New Zealand businesses to consider exploring new opportunities in India through their mutual interest in
the sport" says Kaushal.
“The Council also welcomes the collaborative approach of the immigration departments of both countries for enabling this
initiative to proceed.”
This decision has come at an appropriate time, just when the tickets are going for sale soon.
Tourism industry experts are hoping that this announcement will be a precursor to further liberalisation of trans-Tasman
travel.
INZBC welcomes this move that will help travel & tourism in both countries.
