Hawaii Hits All Time High With Kiwi Travellers
More Kiwis than ever are travelling to Hawaii with Flight Centre New Zealand reporting a whopping 65% booking increase in 2013, compared to the previous year. The outer islands of Hawaii are also proving to be the most popular holiday add-on with an increase of almost 80% year-on-year.
Backed by Statistics New Zealand reporting the biggest increase in departures in 2013 was to the United States (US), Flight Centre is also reporting a booking increase of almost 30% to Los Angeles and 25% to New York.
To help Kiwis book their 2014 holiday, Travel Expo, New Zealand’s largest travel show, is being held in Auckland on 15 & 16 February 2014. Hosted by Flight Centre Limited, the annual Travel Expo provides travel information, holiday packages, cruises and exclusive flight discounts, all available on the day.
Flight Centre New Zealand’s managing director, Mike Friend, said that Hawaii and the US is going from strength-to-strength and this is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to book an overseas holiday for 2014.
“Hawaii and the US offers the ultimate ‘shop, surf and sun’ holiday. In comparison to other traditionally popular holiday destinations, it’s also very affordable once you’re there because of the huge range of options available."
“In an already buoyant market, we are expecting this to be a very successful Travel Expo. With exclusive deals available on the day, Travel Expo is the perfect time to book your next holiday.”
Travel Expo will also feature the inaugural ‘People’s Deal’ promotion, where the public can vote for the deal of their choice on social media during the week prior to the show, essentially lowering the price for the ‘chosen deal’ to be featured at Travel Expo.
“Voting starts online from Monday with customers able to choose between the Gold Coast, Los Angeles, Fiji, London and Honolulu. Each vote lowers the price of the destination and the one that receives the most votes will be featured exclusively at Travel Expo."
“With exhibitors from around the world and expert consultants from Flight Centre, Cruiseabout, Student Flights, Travel Associates and Travel Money on hand to provide you with the latest information on all destinations, Travel Expo is the place to go for anything travel related.”
Travel Expo will also be taking place in Christchurch on 23 February 2014.
