KCE launches Heartland community fund
Taumarunui, 31 January 2014 - Electricity generator and retailer King Country Energy (KCE) has launched a new fund which
will provide financial support in the form of grants to community groups and organisations working to improve life for
people in the King Country region.
The KCE Heartland Community Fund will be offered three times a year, and will inject around $15,000 to $20,000 into the
community annually.
Retail manager Helen Peacock said the Heartland fund was put in place to ensure KCE’s support was being spread as widely
as possible throughout the organisation’s operating areas.
“Over the years KCE has supported thousands of causes that keep our communities safe, healthy, beautiful and connected.
The Heartland fund will ensure this support continues.”
Three times a year, groups and organisations undertaking community projects that meet the fund’s criteria will be able
to apply for a grant of between $500 and $5000.
In addition to the Heartland community fund, KCE also supports the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and is the naming rights
sponsor of community netball in Te Kuiti, Otorohanga and Taumarunui.
“It’s only a small amount – but we know it makes a big difference to the communities that receive it,” said Mrs Peacock.
She said a Facebook page has been started for the Heartland fund, where people will share updates, pictures and videos
with the wider community about how the funding is making a difference. The Facebook page already has more than 80
followers.
Peacock added that criteria apply and applications must be made on the official application form which can be found on
the Facebook page or on KCE’s website www.kce.co.nz.
The inaugural Heartland funding round is now open and closes on 31 March 2014.
Information events for community groups and organisations are being held across the region in early February. RSVPs are
