HD Voice now live on 2degrees
Great news – HD Voice has arrived at 2degrees!
2degrees customers* can now experience the benefits of HD Voice which dramatically improves the quality and clarity of voice calls.
The difference has to be heard to be believed. HD Voice eliminates all background noise so your conversations are crystal clear - it’s almost like you are both in the same room.
HD voice is available nationwide now on 2degrees’ 3G network for customers with selected HD capable phones.
What is HD Voice?
HD stands for High Definition. You might have heard it used in reference to TVs and picture quality, but it also applies to the quality of sound. HD technology dramatically improves the quality and clarity of voice calls, so when you’re talking to someone it sounds much more like you’re talking to them face-to-face. There is no background sound so conversations may also appear louder and without any background noise.
How does it work?
The technology works by opening up the phone’s audio range, allowing it to capture and transmit sounds across a wider band of frequencies. This makes HD Voice calls sound clearer and more natural than a standard mobile or landline call.
Is it available now?
Yes, to make an HD Voice call both the caller and the receiver need an HD Voice capable phone and you both need to be on the 2degrees network. It will not work if you call someone with an HD enabled phone on another network.
What phones are capable of giving me HD Voice?
See what handsets are now HD Voice capable on the 2degrees network.
What do I need to get HD Voice?
This service is automatically available to all 2degrees customers with an HD capable phone.
Can HD Voice be switched off?
We want our customers to get the best experience when using our network so High Definition (HD) calls are enabled automatically when both callers are using a compatible phone on the 2degrees network. It isn’t possible to switch it off.
Can I use HD Voice while roaming?
To get HD Voice, you need to be on 2degrees’ 3G network. It will not work in areas of our network that roams on Vodafone or has 2G. If you are on a HD voice call and travel to a part of our network that roams on Vodafone or has 2G, the call will just revert back to regular voice quality. The call will still be seamless but the change in voice quality may be quite obvious.
Can I experience HD Voice talking to someone on another network?
To experience HD Voice, both of you need HD Voice capable phones and be on the 2degrees network.
Does HD Voice use data?
No – it will only use minutes and is just like a standard voice call.
