Tunstall wellness program makes healthy start

Tunstall wellness program makes healthy start

Staff at Tunstall Healthcare are leading by example and making a healthier start to 2014 with the launch of their first staff wellness program.

Tunstall Healthcare Clinical Services Manager Ruth Skinner-Smith said the program was supporting staff in health self-management, enabling them to take their vital sign readings daily in encouragement of their own personal health milestones.

“Our multi-user myclinic telehealth hubs have been set up for staff in both our Brisbane (Australia) and Tauranga (New Zealand) offices,” Ms Skinner-Smith said.

“Each participant is registered on the Tunstall integrated care platform (icp) with an individual monitoring plan tailored around their needs.

“With a secure log-in, participants can then answer their own personal on-screen health questions and take their vital sign readings.

“We’ve had a great response to the program with over 20 staff now signed up, each setting individual goals including weight-loss, an increased fitness level, or greater control over a pre-existing health condition.

“They are encouraged to take their vital sign readings daily, and our onsite Clinical Services team are monitoring their results for any readings outside of normal limits.

“The telehealth program allows participants to track their health trends over time and provide their GP/specialist with graphs and trend reports from their myclinic readings.

“A daily walking group and weekly personal training session have also been set up as part of the program and we’re simply encouraging everyone to step out of the office and get active for 15-20 minutes during their workday,” Ms Skinner-Smith said.
