Kiwi innovation meMINI reaches Kickstarter goal
The Kiwi innovators developing the unique wearable camera meMINI have reached their crowd-funding goal of $US50,000 in
just eight days.
Entrepreneurs Sam Lee, of Wanaka, and Ben Bodley, of Auckland, launched their campaign to raise at least US$50,000 on
Kickstarter on January 6 at the world famous Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA.
The meMINI concept hit $US50,000 on Wednesday – and it continues to climb each day, with more than 350 financial
backers. TheKickstarter campaign offers a range of pledge options, from $1 to $10,000.
“The fact that we have reached our target so quickly means that the meMINI wearable camera concept with Recall®
technology has been validated. We know that it’s obviously a lifestyle product that people want,” Lee says.
Although the target has been reached, Lee and Bodley are now introducing stretch goals – to further improve the product
– for the remainder of the 30-day campaign.
“We’ve had a lot of feedback from our backers and people we’ve talked to at CES about the concept and we want to further
refine meMINI,” Lee says.
Money raised already guarantees production of the first meMINI cameras and the meMINI cloud software. The pair will
continue to engage their backers to see what new developments they will add to meMINI and even refine the product’s key
features before it goes to production.
Lee and Bodley say being at CES was a huge opportunity for their company as they were able to connect with dozens of
potential technology partners and gain invaluable international media exposure.
