Jeep Grand Cherokee Named 2014 Four Wheel Drive Car Of The Year
Leading Australian off-road magazine, 4X4 Australia, has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD as its 2014 Four Wheel Drive Car of the Year in a unanimous decision amongst the judges that saw the Jeep beating much more expensive vehicles.
“Sure, it doesn't have the unstoppable off-road ability of a Jeep Wrangler but it does everything else so well,” said Matt Raudonikis, Editor of 4X4 Australia. “The Grand Cherokee has a level of performance, safety, comfort and convenience features that belie its price tag.”
The magazine chose the Jeep Grand Cherokee as winner after a week-long test drive program including highways, country roads, gravel roads, steep rocky tracks and beach driving.
Road test editor Fraser Stronach said unanimous decisions were rare in the history of the award.
"This speaks volumes for the attributes, performance, appeal and, above all, the value of the Grand Cherokee," he said. "This is a brilliant back-roads tourer that, by 4x4 standards, also feels like a sports car."
The turbo diesel powered Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD is available in New Zealand priced from a recommended retail price of $73,990 excluding dealer costs as Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo CRD. The same drivetrain is also available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee with a recommended retail price of $85,990 excluding dealer costs and in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with a recommended retail price of $98,990 excluding dealer costs.
